Aren't some of the sights simply running out of their allocated spaces,
forcing them to expire (and delete) files as they age?

You shouldn't need one. The Mitsumi FX-400 (the quad speed one) is E-IDE, which
means it'll plug in as it if were a second hard disk. If you have an IDE HDD
controller, it'll work, but if you have an EIDE controller, it won't slow down
your HD when you use your CD (and it's faster and no more expensive).

At present, There are no Gus drivers that will enable you to get sound in a
DOS VDM.
Are you listening Gravis?

ROTT and no FX:
To get sound FX your IRQ must be 7 or less. Or, get the pmode
program to replace dos4gw.
Mitsumi 4x and GUS:
No daughtercard is required since the Mitsmumi 4x is an ATADPI
IDE drive. Thus, it connects to your IDE or EIDE controller.
You can connect the audio cable to your GUS. I have mine
hooked up to my GUS Max and it works great!

To whoever asked if they could use FX400 and gus:
Yeah, no problem with any version of the gus, as the mitsumi 4x connects
to your IDE/EIDE(ATAPI) interface, and works as is. There is a slight problem
with the audio connector, but fear not. It does not fit, but merely use your
male force and push it into the 3 left connectors with your amplifyer on at
low sound until you hear it. No big use for audio-through anyway, but it's
cool to have the system working as it should anyways... ;)
Good luck... (btw: the fx400 mitsumi sucks, getting a fx400b day after
tomorrow, but I guess it's just as crappy. Get a pioneer IDE-4x-cdrom..)

Hey Sinclair,
The Mitsumi Quad CD-ROM is an EIDE drive, so all you need is an IDE
controller. I don't know if it needs to be EIDE or not. If so a
separate EIDE card would be cheaper and more useful than trakking down
some daughtercard for the GUS.
Does anyone know if/why this drive was discontinued? I can't get it
from my supplier anymore. He said Mitsumi was cancelling all of their
CD-ROMs. Will there be a replacement?
To guy and ROTT 1.2a,
Don't know if Apogee has their head out of their arses yet, so make
sure the GUS is set to IRQ's less than 7. Worked on older versions.
To guy who sent in the ENTIRE DIGEST yesterday,
BE CAREFUL!!!!! DON'T DO IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad Origin seems to like the GUS internally. Lets see some
support then... Also, i'd like to perhaps see CODE OPTIMISATION...
Gee Origin games are huge... :)
Later.
